If you're thinking about moving to Reno or just trying to find an affordable home in Reno, you're going to want to stick around.

Northwest Reno

Northwest Reno is located just off of I-80, you can take the Robb drive exit or the McCarran exit. The older part of Northwest Reno is going to be located off of 7th St, Keystone, or the Kings Row area. Northwest Reno is a very popular area because of its convenience. There are a ton of shopping areas, restaurants, the University of Nevada at Reno, Rancho San Rafael Dog Park, and it's close to downtown Reno.

You can find single-family homes in the area in the mid to high $400,000s to well over $600,000, depending on the age and the size of the home. You can also find some condos/townhouses in the mid to high $200,000s. Northwest Reno is easily one of the most popular areas in Northern Nevada.

Stead

Stead is located in the North Valleys, just off 395. You will want to take the Stead Blvd exit or the Lemmon Valley exit. You can find homes in the low to mid $300,000s, but most of their single-family homes will be in the $400,000+ range.

There isn't a lot of shopping or amenities in the area. But, there is a great park called North Valleys regional park. If you want grocery stores and more amenities, you will have to drive about 5-10 minutes South to Lemmon Valley. There you will find Walmart, Smith's grocery store, Starbucks, a BBQ spot, and more.

Lemmon Valley

Lemmon Valley is located just off of 395 North. You will want to take the Lemmon Valley exit. Lemmon Valley doesn't really have any condos or townhouses. You will only really find single-family homes in the area. You can find some homes in the low to mid $400,000s, but a majority of the homes will be in the $400-600,000 range, with a good amount under $500,000. If you are looking for a manufactured home or some acreage, they do have homes like that in Lemmon Valley.

Lemmon Valley has a good amount of amenities, including an auto parts store, Walmart, grocery store, Bank of America, and more. If you want more options, you can drive about 5 minutes south to Golden Valley and you will have another grocery store, gym, and the United States Postal Service.

Cold Springs

Cold Springs is located just off of 395 North very close to the California border. You will want to take White Lake parkway or Village parkway. If you're looking for a condo or townhouse, this isn't really the area for you. Most people who move to Cold Springs are looking for good value, bigger lots, and possibly RV parking. If you are looking for a new home, there is a new home builder called Lifestyle homes. They are a good local builder. Most homes in this area going to be $450,000+ range. You can certainly find a manufactured home for slightly less and if you're looking for a bigger or newer home, you can find that too.

There aren't a ton of amenities out there. There is only a family dollar, gas station, and a small convenience store. If you are looking for more amenities, you will have to drive about 10 minutes south to Lemmon Valley.

Cold Springs does have a bright future though, a big community called Stonegate will be built in Cold Springs over the next 20 years. There are going to be many great amenities in the near future. Including a town center, parks, and 5000+ single-family and multi-family homes. The builders mentioned that they had the vision to make it similar to what the original developers did in South Reno with Double Diamond and Damonte Ranch. That is really exciting!

Mira Loma and Donner Springs

Mira Loma map

Mira Loma is located in the Southeast part of Reno, just off of McCarran. This MLS area is called Donner Springs. You can find a decent amount of older condos and townhouses in the area, that are in the mid to high $200,000s. If you are looking for a single-family home, you can expect to pay in the low to mid $400,000s+. Most homes in this area are built in the 70-90s, but there is a handful built in the early 2000s.

Mira Loma is a super convenient area. You can take McCarran and easily get to Sparks or the Meadowood mall area, which has basically everything. The main Mira Loma area also has a grocery store and several restaurants in their shopping center. This is definitely a popular and affordable neighborhood in the heart of Reno.
