Wilburt D. May, the son of the founder of May Company Department Stores settled in Reno. He rented his first home in the early 1930s and later rented a 2,600-acre property in 1938. That land later became the Double Diamond neighborhood that we know today. The community backs up to the Resort at the Tanamera on South Meadows Parkway.

The development of Double Diamond began in the late 1990s. The project was spearheaded by a group of local developers who saw the potential for growth in the area. The first phase of construction included the development of infrastructure and the construction of homes.
